Getting started in weight loss

September 30th, 2008 · 1 Comment · Daily Rants

I knew I was heavy, but not THAT heavy.

The scales at the local gym groaned this morning, this first day that I stopped in and plunked down cash for a new membership with the goal of getting fit, and the initial scale result was bad.

338lbs.  The heaviest I’ve ever been.

So the journey starts into weight loss and getting my life back.  And it’s about time.

I’ve tried numeous times with marginal success.  Actually, even though I’ve lost 30 or 40 lbs at times, I’m at my heaviest now.  So there was no real success in the past, only failure.

I’ll be following a 5-6 meal per day balance of proteins/carbs with some healthy fats.  Basically eating as ‘clean’ as possible. For those familiar with Body For Life, by Bill Phillips, I’ll be loosely following his plan.

For getting the folds of jelly moving, I’ll start with cardio - gotta use that new gym membership I got today as I hate to waste money - and try and get the legs moving again fairly quickly.  Hitting the weights will come in the next week or so.  I’ll aim to hit the gym 4-5 times a week, hopefully in the mornings.

So please stay with me, give me a push when I falter a bit, and share a little feedback as I try to drop 100 or more lbs over the next year or two.  A little encouragement goes a long ways with me ;)

I’ll aim to post every day (or two) with successes, challenges, and results.
